The 100 milking ewes at Monkeyflower Ranch which produce the milk for Garden Variety Cheese are fed on fresh pasture, alfalfa hay and organic brewer’s grain from Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing. Each ewe is named after a garden flower and treated with love and respect. The dairy sheep only produce milk from January to June every year, and spend the dry season pregnant, fattening up for the milking season.

Summer Farmstand

Our farmstand will be open Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm beginning May 10th at 1469 San Miguel Canyon Rd., Royal Oaks. We will have our cheese and yogurt, pork and lamb meat, soap, eggs, and popsicles for sale.

Tours Offered

Once or twice a year, the farm is opened to the public for a family-friendly day. There's usually a BBQ, cheese for sale, and a tour of the farm and the creamery.

Spring Open House

‍Come on out to the farm and see where we make our cheese and yogurt!We’ll have tours of the milking parlor and creamery, cheese to taste, and baby lambs to frolic with. You can visit the sheep, pigs, chickens, and guardian dogs, and explore Fort Awesome.
