Nestled just south of the Oregon border, Humboldt and Del Norte Counties boast a stunning landscape where redwoods meet the sea along California's rugged coastline. In 1992, Blake and Stephanie Alexandre purchased a piece of farmland in Crescent City, Del Norte County, to establish their dairy farm. Since then, the farm has grown significantly, and today, the Alexandres work alongside their children to maintain a thriving, family-operated business.
The Alexandre Family Farm is rooted in a passion for grass-based dairying and a mission to farm in harmony with nature. By honoring the Earth and its creatures, the farm produces nutrient-rich dairy products and eggs, emphasizing sustainable practices that benefit the land, animals, and future generations. With a vision to pass down a healthy farm and farming practices, the Alexandres are dedicated to transparency, faith, hard work, and community care.
Health is at the heart of their farming philosophy, beginning with nurturing soil teeming with microorganisms to produce lush, year-round pastures. Their dairy cows and hens graze together on open fields, embodying a holistic management approach that integrates animals and ecosystems. The farm spans 4,300 acres, managed without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, and produces nest-laid, hand-gathered eggs and milk from crossbred A2/A2 dairy cows.
A longstanding family tradition, regenerative organic farming is in the Alexandres' blood. As fourth-generation farmers, they converted their dairy to organic in the late 1990s, reviving century-old practices from their grandparents. Certified organic since 2001, the farm became one of California’s first organic dairies. Today, the family operates five regenerative organic dairies and grows organic alfalfa hay in Modoc County.
The Alexandre children, raised on the farm, have embraced the family’s agricultural legacy, earning degrees in agriculture and helping lead the farm into its sixth generation. The family remains deeply committed to producing high-quality, single-origin food while welcoming visitors to experience their passion for sustainable farming firsthand.
