Meet the Maker is an educational series brought to you by The California Artisan Cheese Guild in an effort to create an opportunity for cheese enthusiasts and industry members to meet the makers that make our cheese industry so special.

Their October guest is Point Reyes Farmstead Creamery (PRFC) featuring VP of Operations, Kuba Hemmerling.

In 1959 the Giacomini 's established a successful dairy farm in Marin county, CA just north of San Francisco. In 2000, together with their daughters, they began making cheese on the farm with milk from their own herd of Holsteins. Today, sisters, Diana, Lynn and Jill own and run the company that is recognized nationally as an award-winning producer best-in-class, hand-crafted, artisan cheese. The Point Reyes Farmstead product line contains Original Blue, Bay Blue, Toma, TomaProvence, TomaTruffle, TomaRashi, Gouda, and Quinta. The cheeses are available nationally at independent cheese shops and specialty grocers.

In 2009, Kuba Hemmerling came to Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company as Head Cheese Maker and Plant Manager, he is now VP of Operations. Kuba assumed production responsibilities for the company’s flagship cheese, Original Blue. Under his direction, PRFC expanded its product line with Toma in 2010 and an Aged Gouda, Fresh Mozzarella in 2011, Bay Blue in 2012 and thier line of flavored Toma in 2019.
